Product Overview – βGel

The rheologic characteristics of the hydrogel enable the material to be malleable. As the temperature rises towards body temperature the gel stiffens becoming resistant to displacement by the body fluids. βGel will be presented in a polycarbonate syringe with a lure-lock connection. Each unit will be packed in a double foil pouch, supplied sterile, for single patient use.

βGel’s interconnected porosity is controlled to provide a three-dimensional scaffold that supports vascularisation and early cell attachment. The chemistry, surface area and material volume are balanced to achieve a physiologic response. Mimicking the geometry and chemistry of human bone matrix in this way allows ßGel’s scaffold to function as an osteoconductive template which is replaced by regenerating bone.

The interconnected porous geometry of ßGel is controlled to allow rapid vascularisation. The material surface is optimised to assist cell attachment and to function as a template to guide bone regeneration.

The microporous surface of ßGel is optimised for early cell attachment. The highly pure ß-tri calcium phosphate responds to the osteoclastic mediated resorption at a physiologic rate. This means that the ßGel will effectively be resorbed at the same rate as the body is producing new bone to replace it.

The material is entirely synthetic. It is manufactured using pharmaceutical grade elements to exclude any possibility of allogenic/xenogenic contamination. A proprietary manufacturing process, strictly controlled by an ISO 13485 quality assurance system, ensures a highly pure and consistent material.

ßGel has all the benefits of a high quality ßTCP bone substitute with improved handling characteristics even when compared to allografts.
